The Edge
The Edge is a mixed-use development conceived as a contemporary social and commercial hub in Atascadero, California. Organized into two primary buildings, the project is intentionally designed around two large, existing oak trees that anchor the site and shape the overall layout. A central courtyard is carved between the buildings, preserving these mature trees while creating a welcoming outdoor room with seating, planters, and pedestrian pathways that serve as the heart of the development.
As illustrated in the renderings, the architectural language blends modern industrial forms with warm, tactile materials, including wood cladding, metal paneling, and concrete elements. Large, glazed openings and mezzanine levels with indoor-outdoor access activate the courtyard and upper levels, allowing residents and patrons to naturally come together to enjoy food, social life, and community interaction.
