J Street Mixed-Use Development
This proposed mixed-use development in Lompoc, California, is conceived as a contemporary interpretation of the city’s downtown Art Deco architectural heritage. The project consists of two ground-level retail spaces , with fifteen residential units above with storefronts on the ground floor, and three residential levels above that contribute to a cohesive and walkable urban environment.
The architectural language draws from Art Deco characteristics found in downtown Lompoc, and expresses through strong vertical emphasis, rhythmic façade articulation, stepped volumes, and refined detailing. Vertical piers, recessed balconies, and a defined central entry create a sense of order and permanence, while maintaining a restrained and contemporary character.
Site features are thoughtfully integrated to support daily operations while maintaining a clean and organized appearance Together, the architecture and site design create a mixed-use development that supports neighborhood scale and introduces new residential and commercial activity.
